I Got Acrylic Nails!!!!!

Hey Lovelies,

Life has been hectic. Work here, university there and somewhere in between all that I’ve kept my social life going. Unfortunately some things have suffered, like my blog and my tv watching and my book reading. With all of these crazy things happening lately I’ve really appreciated my down time and taken extra time just to allow myself to relax. For example, I’ve found it really hard to keep up with doing my own nails at least once a week and I’ve been hating how they’ve been looking. This weekend I was working all weekend and didn’t even have time to see Alex (a.k.a the partner) !!! So instead of the money I would’ve been spending on doing fun things with him I invested in some “treat yo self” time and boy was it fun.

One of my friends has been going to this nail salon close to me for years and they always look fantastic so I finally decided to go and get them done. I’ve had gel done before but never acrylic, people have always told me that they ruin your nails, but after the damage I experienced through press-on nails and gel, I though how much more damage could they be? Also I’ve heard that if you go to the right place your nails will be fine, so I made sure that I went to a good place.

The night before my appointment I was on Pinterest and Instagram just staring at nail pictures trying to decide what to get. I had NO idea. I felt so silly, and when I got to the salon I was just like, “PINK!”.

Envious Nails and Beauty is the name of the salon and I felt very relaxed and taken care of by the ladies there, it wasn’t scary at all (not that I thought it would be). I can’t wait to rebook and go back, still have no idea what to get but I’m sure I’ll know in the moment.

Boy, it’s been awhile since I’ve posted but since then, I’ve been sick, the internet went down and not to mention I started back at uni, which made my life super busy. But what better excuse to actually post something decent than post my 2014 Blogger Challenge post.

NOTD Sinful Colors Cupid’s Arrow

I’ve been meaning to paint my nails since the new year but I haven’t since I don’t like doing my nails when I don’t have any nail polish remover left, and well apparently it takes me a couple of weeks to buy some. This is one of the polishes I picked up at the Christmas sales and well I really like this one, I’m big on pastels and nudes and this one is kinda perfect for me, just very simple.

NOTD Elizabeth Arden Candy Apple

Merry Christmas Lovelies,

I wasn’t planning on doing a post today but last night when my family did Christmas early, I got this amazing nail polish and decided to do them straight away. My manicure is a little shoddy but the colour is absolutely gorgeous. The shade I’m rocking is Elizabeth Arden’s Candy Apple. I personally think this is a great shade for Christmas and I’m so happy that I get to wear on the big day.

Pretty Pink Glitter NOTD

 

So university is nearly over and well I was so flippin’ bored last night because everyone was out enjoying the Fall Out Boy concert and I was home. I decided to layer my favourite nail polish which is OPI in Mimosas for Mr and Mrs with some pink glitter which I picked up from Forever 21 while I was in the states last year. I had to wait a super long time to allow for it to dry but i think it looks very pretty and not overwhelming, as sometimes glitter tends to be. Last night I also noticed that I am running very short on my Sally Hansen Dry and Go Drops and desperately need to go and buy more because I probably only have one good use left in them!

Lively Lilac – NOTD

It’s springtime and what better way to embrace the season than to take in all the lovely wildlife that is blooming around this time of year. This is a really simple NOTD featuring one of my favourite nail polishes. This particular one is Rimmel Lasting Finish in 170 Lively Lilac and I’m absolutely in love with it. I feel that this specific shade is a very natural way to add some purple into an more wearable setting, since lilacs and lavenders are very subtle yet stunning shades.

NOTD – OPI Significant Other Color

I repainted my nails tonight and I realized I hadn’t shown you guys this amazing shade.  When I bought this I remember not wanting to buy anything that day and when I saw this little beaut, I bought faster then you could say it’s name. It has a real unique blend of colors, with purple being the main one, but with hints of green and silver and pink, I cannot express how much I love this shade, it’s amazing in sunlight and with all the sun we’ve had in the last couple of days, it is a must for spring. As always I have Sally Hansen’s Dry & Go Drops put on top it make them dry faster and help it last longer.

ERMAGHERD Storage – #SBBC

So I know most people who are doing the September beauty blog challenge and are doing today’s post about storage will probably talk about how they store their makeup. My makeup is stored in a little more unconventional way; it’s stored in various makeup bags in a large drawer in my desk. There is some organization to it though, the bags are organized from most frequently used to lesser used items, and therefore I find it incredibly easy to find things. Today’s focus, however is not on makeup storage but the new addition to my room which caters for the storage and organization of many things, it’s my new cube bookcase.

I’d been wanting a bookcase for awhile since my collection had grown and no longer could fit in the limited space I was storing them in. I also needed somewhere better to store my perfumes and hand creams, since they were literally consuming my desk and a change was needed. The bookcase cost be around $50 dollars from Officeworks, and I have to say that it was the easiest thing I’ve even built in my life, although I got help from my mum, it was so stress free and we had it done in under an hour.

 

This is my nail polish collection and I attempted to organize it by most used but it got a little scrambled. Although my collection isn’t too big, there is a whole lot of room to improve and build it. Before I had the bookcase my nail polishes were stored in a very pretty box that was on my desk and I have to say that this is an improvement since now I can maneuver around the polishes easier and see the color better then getting a horrible mouthful of nail polish odor when opening my box.

Now this isn’t all my perfumes and hand creams, but the ones that took up space on my desk and boy is it an improvement. They used to be placed right on the edge of my desk and I was always tipping them over, so this is a wonderful compromise.

So that’s what’s new in storage with me. Storage and organization is a big deal for me since I live in a ridiculously small room and have next to no space to work with and this new bookcase has kinda of been a life saver and plus it makes my room look really nice and a whole lot girlier. Beauty Things I Suck At TAG – #SBBC

I’ve seen so many people on YouTube this and was gonna get around to it eventually, so I’m so glad I can do it for the SBBC. I find this TAG so nice to read and watch, since it’s so wonderful to relate to people with some of the things that are hard to do. Now as you all know I’ve relatively a beginner in the beauty world and well I suppose that brings out a lot of the things that I’m bad at, but as a begin to compile a list there wasn’t that many, which did make me smile.

Mascara – Doing mascara I’m perfectly capable of, it’s avoiding getting it on my nose and my eyelids. I am quite blessed and already have really long lashes and well sometimes it makes mascara really annoying to do. On a regular basis I will get mascara marks on my eyelids and on the bottom of my brows. To top it off I always without doubt, think it’s a good option to get rid of it with my finger and end up getting black smudges in places I don’t want them.

Eyeliner – This is pretty self explanatory. Although I do have to emphasize how bad I was to begin with. I couldn’t work out how to get eyeliner on my upper lash line and every time, regardless of what type of eyeliner I could never get a straight line. So what did I do…PRACTICE! I’ve practiced doing eyeliner on so many occasions and it helps so goddamn much, I still can’t get my head around liquid eyeliner, but every other form I have nearly nailed. I can do cat eyes! (Which is such a massive achievement from all the practice, the first time I did it decent I walked around the house showing everyone for hours, multiple times, I was so proud) Getting both eyes symmetrical is my main concern now I always stuff it up, mostly when I try anything from just a basic cat-eye.

Hair Styling – I honestly have no patience when it comes to my hair, I’ve never like the texture of my hair and the only ‘styling’ that I do is straightening. I can do a few different types of buns and braids which for me are so flippin’ simple but I still have people asking me how to do them. Also in regards with hair, with all the straightening, I loose all the volume and then when I try to add some, I fail miserably.

Nail Polish – Working with nail polish is similar to that of eyeliner and when I started doing my nails, I could never get them perfect and the only thing that helped was practice. Now the thing that I absolutely suck with when it comes to nails, is waiting for them to dry. I can never do it, and therefore comes my addiction to speed drying top coats. I cannot number the amount of times I’ve done a perfect manicure then fucked it up by doing my hair with bobby pins, starting playing piano or even typing furiously.

Nail Polish: OPI Mimosas for Mr & Mrs

This is what I wore for my 18th birthday on Friday and I have to say that the dress that I ordered from Missguided fit really well and I was so glad but I don’t think they accounted for people as tall as me. I’m roughly 5’11 and the bodycon dress didn’t even cover my bottom (eekkk!) so I paired it with this skater skirt from Target and to be honest I think it was for the better.

I absolutely love Mimosas for Mr & Mrs, it was the first OPI polish that I purchased and Im starting to run low but I just love painting my nails this shade. I did two coats and then topped it with Sally Hansen’s Dry & Go Drops.
