Exams are finally over and now with a month of holidays I aim to try and get back on top of blogging since as you know, I’ve been so incredibly slack, but to be honest I miss it and I really want to let you all know what I’ve been loving and hating. Even though I’m in crazy savings mode for my USA trip in December, I’ve been able to take advantage of some of the sales that Priceline have been having here and there. A couple of months ago I bought the L’Oreal False Lash Butterfly Wings mascara because there was a 40% sale on all cosmetics going on and since this mascara normally retails for $20-30 AUD I jumped at the chance to try it out. Because I’ve been using it for a while now I feel that I’ve definitely road tested it enough to give it a fair review.
Here’s what L’Oreal claims about the mascara:
“Complete your winged eye look with volumised and fanned out lashes. False Lash Butterfly Wings mascara instantly volumises at the roots and stretches your lashes outwards for a winged eye effect.”
First off the bat, I love the asymmetrical brush it’s kind of brilliant, especially for giving extra volume for the outer lashes. I find that the formulation isn’t clumpy and is extremely black, which is a big tick for me. In regards to completing a winged eye look, it definitely enhances one but I find that this mascara is perfect for any type of semi dramatic to hella dramatic eye look. The lasting power is pretty great which is either a good or bad thing depending on preference. For instance I love that it lasts all day but I dislike that it will take forever to come off. I think this mascara is best for the top lashes since I find that using on the bottom lashes it lengthens them a little too much and i tend to get a lot of mascara under my eye.
Brush: 8/10 (love it for the top, but doesn’t work that well for bottom lashes)
Lasting and holding Power: 8/10
Shade: 10/10 (blackest black ever, really darkens those little babies)
I would totally repurchase this mascara or at least another L’Oreal mascara since this is the first one that I’ve bought and well I love it, almost as much as Maybelline’s Falsies!!!
What mascara are you loving at the moment?
Not long ago Maybelline released a new series to their Color Sensation range, and since I was in love with those, it seemed right to try out the new Color Whisper collection. Although I only purchased one, I plan to expand my collection. The particular shade that I picked up was 65 Pink Possibilities which is a light yet bright pink.
When I swatched it in the store I noticed that it was quite similar to the Revlon Lip Butters and since it’s still summer over here, I assumed the Color Whispers would hold the same standard. First off, the packaging is simple, yet quite sleek and similar to the Color Sensations lipsticks. These are slimmer and I do admire the similarity to the Revlon ones with the flat top design.
I found that it swatches lighter on my hand than on my lips, which I see as a bonus. I find the the pigmentation is perfect for such a weightless product and I honestly thought it would be sheerer on my lips. The formula is extremely lightweight and I found it amazingly moisturizing. I would honestly use this as a lip balm! In my opinion, these are softer and more lightweight than the Revlon Lip Butters and I think that’s due to their added sheerness. Overall these are quite impressive and are worth a try, especially if you like the Revlon dupes. At Priceline they retail for $14.95 which makes these quite an affordable addition to any lipstick collection. The color range is alright, but I hope they expand it in the coming year.
What’s your opinion on these types of lipsticks (Color Whispers or the Revlon Lip Butters etc.)?

Honestly I can’t say I’ve been more amazed by a razor in my life. I’ve been so prone to getting horrible razor bumps, or the razor getting really dull very quickly, or my legs/armpits getting extremely bad razor burn. Last week I was at the point where I was completely fed up and I had seen this one in ads and thought, why the fuck not a change would certainly be better than this discomfort, especially since it’s Summer.
When I used this for the first time today, I was blown away. The Olay bars were so moisturizing and I was just really happy. At first I thought that because of all the extra moisture I wouldn’t get a close shave that I was happy with, but boy was I wrong, the precision is wonderful and I couldn’t be more pleased.
There is only one DRAWBACK to this razor and that is that this bad boy is a little on the pricey side. The razor only comes with one cartridge and the replacement ones are $20 for 3. But I think for a product that can overwhelm me this much, the price shouldn’t bother me that much.
What’s your favourite razor? I’d love to hear your thoughts 🙂
xoxo – Happy Holidays
In the last couple of months I’ve been semi addicted to trying out as many essence products as possible, since they are very inexpensive and so far I’ve been quite impressed with the quality. I’d heard a few good reviews on this bronzer and since summer was nearing when I bought this (featured in this haul time) I took the very tiny leap in purchasing it and giving it a go.
My first impressions were quite good but after using it for a week or so I noticed a few drawbacks to this product. In my opinion, that shade is a little too orange for me and doesn’t go that well with my complexion. I have cool undertones and since this bronzer emphasizes the warm tones, it really just sit well.
That would have to be my only drawback and that has nothing to do with the actual product quality. I found the actual quality to be great. The packaging is simple and clean, would be better with a mirror but for such an inexpensive product, I’m not complaining. I would have to say my favourite thing about this bronzer is that it is scented and smells like coconuts. It may be a bit strong for some people, but personally i love the smell. As you can see in the swatch above the pigmentation isn’t too bad and as the packaging suggests it would be a very lovely soft bronzer for lighter skin tones.
Overall I would give this product a 3.5/5
Have you tried many Essence products? I would love to hear your thoughts 🙂
Holy cow this is been a long ride, finally getting access to my blog today and I’m gonna dive straight back in. I’m pretty sure I haven’t mentioned this yet but I am apart of #Bloggoween and am prepping for that, trust me when I say that this break from blogging because of the whole domain thing has been incredibly stressful and now I’m just glad I can put out my material. Now back on topic!
Yes to Cucumbers Daily Calming Moisturizer
I’ve had this little baby for awhile and I only have good words to put forward. I had been on the look out for a decent moisturizer for quite a long time and it was becoming to be impossible, because either something was too greasy or smelt funny or any of the other problems you normally face with a moisturizer.
I’d heard a few good words about the Yesto brand and was desperate to try them out and since I was in need, I picked it up in good hope. I’m aware that some people dislike this product purely because it smells like cucumbers, but I mean what do you expect it’s got it in the title. Personally, I love the smell it’s incredibly refreshing. The consistency is great and feels really cooling and calming on my skin and I wish I could just use it every hour or so just to cool down. You also don’t need much I never use more than a pump for my face and neck, sometimes less.
Altogether I would definitely recommend this product to all my friends….and their mothers and sisters and cousins and great aunts. Generally everyone!
Yes to Cucumbers Facial Towelettes
Over the past weekend I was staying at a friends place and ran out of makeup wipes and from my previous experience with the moisturizer I jumped at the excuse to purchase and try these out. The scent is very calming and cooling and definitely did the trick. Since I didn’t take my entire skincare routine with me to my friend’s place I was quite impressed with how these actually made my face feel clean. They are also very proficient with getting off makeup and I was amazed that something that was scented still happened to get all my makeup off without irritating my skin.
Can’t wait to try more products from this brand they are definitely two thumbs up!
Okay there’s only three posts today because I was so busy yesterday, I swear this will be the last one of the day. Today’s SBBC post is themed ‘Shop my stash’ with a caption referencing to feature a product that I tend to forget about or haven’t used recently. When I think of something I don’t use frequently my mind goes straight to my limited edition blush by MAC that I hardly ever use, even though it was expensive.
My thought process behind hardly using this product is broken down into two parts. The first being that I don’t want to waste it, since it is limited edition and was a little exey and I know I’m not the only person who does this. Who buys a product knowing it’s expensive but swears they’ll use it all the time and then never does because you don’t want to ever be without it. I’m certain I’m not alone. The second part is, look at that flower, I really don’t want to loose the gorgeous flower but it’s inevitable, as you can see it’s already starting to fade. If you hadn’t guess from the title, the name of the blush is My Paradise. 🙂
So I feel terrible, I haven’t missed a day of this challenge at all and I had all intentions of doing this yesterday but the last couple of days I’ve been down with a horrible cold and feeling a little bit better, I went and hung out with my friends last night, and I ran out of time at home to write a post. Today’s theme or should I say yesterday’s theme, was what’s in your handbag/shower/purse etc and since I change my bag every time I go out since I go to uni, so I thought I would go with shower and then trailing off from that since I share a shower with my family soooooooooo on this thought, I have What’s in My Shower, Soap Edition featuring Soap & Glory Foam Call.
I’ve been using this shower wash for quite some time now and I do have some pros and cons. I do have to say on a side note that the puns all over the packaging still gives me a little giggle now and then, it’s so adorably cute.
– The scent is gorgeous, the first time I smelt it I likened it to a pina colada (without the alcohol smell) scent and I was in love. It has neither pineapple or coconut so I don’t know how I got there but I still love it.
– I feel so incredibly clean after using this product, which you would think is the outcome and I’m practically stating that the intended outcome occurs.
– It foams up amazing and works great with a loofah, and I just love all the bubbles, which sounds a little childish but it’s bath time, so bubbles it will be.
– I only have one con for this shower wash and it kinda falls off the second pro of feeling exceptionally clean, which is great but it’s the squeaky type pf clean and I prefer my washs/gels/soaps to give a little moisture and I feel like nearly all most of the moisture is taken out of my skin from this wash. That might but a little of an overreaction but if you get what I mean by being ‘squeaky’ clean in a bad way then you’ll catch my drift.
Love to know what soap your using, there is always something interesting that someone else is using.
